Virtually all psychiatric and medical disorders
have biological, psychological, and social components, and each
of these domains needs to be considered when treating patients.
Group cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is an efficient and effective
vehicle for addressing each of these domains while treating patients
with psychiatric and medical disorders. Group CBT targets the core psychological
and social processes that affect illness, and incorporates pharmacological
treatments and other biological treatments at the same time. Group CBT
interventions can be tailored to unique symptom pathways that characterize
a specific disorder.
